I have never seen a standard or decent upgrade for rear vented disc !

This is too much work for not much improvement, just put the best at the front and a good set of discs and pads at the rear.

      I disagree.
For the states the only difference in brakes between the Coupe and the UrS4/6 was the rear ventilated rear discs. The fronts were the same. The engineers must have felt this would make a difference.

When the front rotor size was increased on the A8 to 323X30 they increased the rear rotor size to 280X22.

When the front rotor size on the B6/7 NuS4was increased, they increased the rears to 300X22.

Must be some correlation between fronts and rears. When Audi increases the fronts they increase the rears.

Easiest tried and working rear upgrade is the UrS4/6 rear caliper(or A8), early S8 rear carrier, and bored and redrilled VW60 or A3 280X22 vented front rotor. Search the forum for threads on install instructions.

I agree with u, the guys at audi made a big mistake puting the standard coupe brakes with the S2 model, I suppose the bank didn't give them the loan to do the S2 project right !!

But to do it on its own, that s another thing ! As everybody uses porsche calipers in front because it s easy and really worth it, for the rear it s not very common to see upgrades, and that s not an easy job ! But if u got one, I would be pleased to have some info and by the way if there was a good and decent solution, everybody would be using it already !

Try this thread, covers most of the options I stated before.

Nice mod for the S2 guys but for the CQ guys....

hard as hell to find a rotor with a 4x108 bolt pattern to make it work. Custom made bell and rotor is out of the question and redrilling an existing rotor is iffy at best. Bah!

              Panzer,
all you need to do is center bore the Corrado rotor and slot the holes out to 4X108. I ran that rotor redrilled for a year and 4 track days and no problems. They were used when they were given to me and wore them out, so I am running the New Beetle/A3 rotors now. No problems with those either. Redrilling the bolt holes is not that critical compared to the center bore. It needs to be right on the money and tapered on the backside to fit the hub.

I have 4 track days on the New Beetle rotors and no problems, even with the spacers on the carrier. I may try the B6S4 rotor turned down to 280mm next. Of course, it will be years before the rears rotors wear out.

90quattrocoupe! You know of anybody who does that type....

machine work? Here in Chicago I can't find anybody to do such stuff. All I get is that it's illegal in my state to alter any safety component such as brakes if they were certified to run on such a such a car like a Corrado. Fitting as you say a Corrado rotor to a CQ would be a felony and if caught, fines and or jailed for such a crime!!
Nobody even if I pay extra will touch such a job, at least in Illinois.

Have all S2's got solid rear discs then?

Surprising if they have!, the RR quattro has vented rear discs.
Obviously, the caliper is just a bit wider than earlier ur-quattro's to accomodate the vented discs. Otherwise they are pretty much the same.

Maybe that is a possibility to use as a straight swap?

I'd imagine so Greg. RR Calipers are not the cheapest things in the world though.

Do you want to know about my current 256x20mm vented rear setup or my new (soon to be fitted) 300x22mm vented rear setup? :mischeif:

Currently use B5 S4 (2.7TT) calipers and carriers with machined TT rear discs. The machined areas of the discs have started to wear though hence they are going in the bin.

New setup is a complete B7 S4 (4.2V8) rear setup. All straight fit bits apart from the handbrake cables which will probably be a custom job.

I will know more next week when the rear end of my Avant is completely stripped. Everything rear of the gearbox is being removed (exhaust, prop, rear diff, rear suspension, rear subframe, fuel tank etc) so we have a good try out of different bits.

Here a picture how much the hand brake cable is "tight" with 256x22 disc in Avant/Sedan S2

S2 coupe HB cable setup is much better.
