Rear Caliper Question

Hi Chaps,

My rear caliper is sticking. Mechanic gave it a good clean but recommended it to be replaced.

As advised by you ugly lot ;p I purchased it from Euro Car Parts.

However, its only just occured to me that its not genuine, which would mean it will be different then the opposite side caliper. Will this cause an issue?

Ski, How do you know it's not genuine? Most of these items are remanufactured originals with new seals, springs and a paint finish.

Having one new caliper and one old may cause an imbalance in efficiency, it is recommended to replace them in pairs, although I didn't nor did I notice any adverse effects.

I asked the sales man if they are genuine and he said no.

I coudnt get genuine ones as they are on a exchange plan (return old ones within 3 days (not possible for me))

Also my other caliper is in perfect condition, and only 2 years old so shoudnt cause an inefficiency.

Ski, If you look at the replacement, chances are you'll see an embossed VW/Audi logo somewhere on them. I'm pretty sure they will be original Girlings. Have a look see.

Yes your right, it has a Audi / VW logo. Yes its girling.
