        Borrowing this thread a little:

I got the same problem as in topic.

        Heres the story:
I had original s2 girling brakes on w/ebc turbogroove pads and discs all 'round.
Changed the fronts to 996tt rear ones (996.352.426/427.01) w/a8 black diamond punched diskes and OEM porsche pads (mintex?). Changend all the brakefluid to ATF Super Blue Racing, fitted goodridge steelbraided hoses, aired the system correctly and a coulpe of times extra to be sure, but the brakes fell slightly worse than the OEM s2 girling setup.
It does brake, but it is a real battle to get it to brake hard. infact i can get it to brake hard! But to everyday use it works, just that the pedal feel is very hard. I've tried to lock the wheels but that didnt work. i also did some acc-brake-acc-brake-acc-brake testing and it bited alittle more when the pads got warmer, but still didnt manage to lock the wheels. The ABS havent turned on a single time, so anyone got a clue what this might be?

Is it the brake bomb? do i even have one on my car (cause i cant find it..)?

I am well aware that it is the rear calippers, but surely they should be up to locking the damn wheels, right?!
I just cant figure this one out.

        All help appreciated

        cheers,

sure the pistons move freely and the pads too?

996t rear calipers have much smaller pistons than 996 / Boxster 's' fronts.
The leverage with the smaller pistons is not great enough for you.

huming sound from the front left and some croaking sort of sound on slow turns.

@ BRY: you think the limit is pushed for my 996's? as they cannot cope with the rest of the setup?

All parts are new besides the calippers, they are overhauled and tested ok.
I were kinda warned to try out the rears as fronts but id want to try it.
I dont know what to belive, but i really thought they would perform better than this?!

solution to the problem is to get greater pistons aka 996 tt fronts? (996.351.etc)

They don't need to be 996t fronts - you would need different brackets for them.
996 351 425/6 have bigger pistons in them and are a straight swap with your calipers. These should give you better pedal feel.
Check that the rest of braking system is working as it should first.
