Hi, not an S2 prob here, but maybe someone has an idea.
My brothers S4 ('94) has a dash light on- symbol for brake pad warning. I have checked the pads- perfect. No wires loose or chaffing. Brakes work fine.fluid ok.
Any thoughts?
Had this on my S6, could well be a break in the brake pad wires somewhere, not easy to trace, in the end because my wiring had been messed with by the previous owner/s i decided to cut the wires and join them together, not ideal but it's the only way round the problem i had, i tend to inspect pads on a regular basis anyway and having just fitted new ones i am not concerend that they will wear out in the next few months anyway
More than likely, if you do cut and join the wires then it's best to pull them through into the engine bay otherwise they get full of road grime and the problem comes back.
You can test whether the problem is the front pad wires by disconnecting them from the car harness and jumping the car harness connection with a "U" of wire (short piece of stout insulated wire with the ends bared). Tape the "U"s in with electricians black tape and everything should be fine. (Tie-wrap the loose wires out of the way)
I have run like that for 7 years since I converted my S4 brakes to Boxster Brembos and A8 rotors (using BIRA brackets)
