    Solid RS2 Brake Disks?

Some opinions please. I recently bought some Zimmerman front brake disks for the RS2 from GSF ... only trouble is that they're solid. Whilst I am not a massive fan of, in my epxerience, the extra noise of the vented disks, so:

    - Should I stick to vented disks?
    - If I decide to keep the solid disks, apart from the asthetics should i also replace the rears with solids?

    Cheers in advance,

    Rich

That says vented? Do you mean drilled?

Any way gsf discs are crap! made from melted down fiats.
You get what you pay for... cheap discs cheap performance.. even if they say Brembo.. they are brembos elcheapo gsf supply only..

Cheapest option is usually through porsche independents. There is a thread on the forum listing all the porsche discs that fit the RS2. Although worth checking with vagparts as audi prices for some parts have fallen.
Oh and they should be vented discs with or without cast holes

Solid? Do you mean without crossdrilled holes? If so I wouldn't worry especially. The cross drilled 'look' is mostly cosmetic and desired for that go faster look. In actual fact, discs last much longer without being cross drilled. They can also take more heat as there's more metal and are less likely to suffer warping, better heat distribution. The discs can't crack around the holes if they ain't there! Most racing cars ie: touring cars etc all run 'solid' discs for same reasons...

Grooved discs on the other hand ARE noticiably more noisy - not often desired or required on a road car. They can however help de-glaze your pads if your into cooking them!

I think your discs should be vented - ie: vented in the middle. AFAIK this is highly desirable all round as will certainly help disapate heat more effectively. It also does not make them more noisy in any way. Only grooved discs make noise. (or squeeky pads) If indeed your Zimmerman are solid throughout I suspect they may not last long stopping a car that weighs approx 1600kg!
