I get a drone through the whole cabin when mine are playing up. The problem from what i could see is the locating lugs on the pad are too snug in the caliper and after a while the brake dust/corrosion clogged up any slack that was there and made the pads unable to move freely, the noise resonated through the whole brake/hub assembly and made an unbearable LOUD(cant hear anything else) noise in the cabin.

Filed the lugs a bit and ran some wet and dry paper up and down the securing pin to clean it up too.
Goes away for a while but always comes back eventually.

I try and blast a jet washer in there when ever i clean the car and it seems to delay it.

My brakes have been squeaking too, I am planning on getting my wheels refurbed next month so will wait till then to have a look at the brakes the car is not getting used just now so its quiet. Think I will try the plastilube sounds like the best option.
