Thinking of doing a guide for fitting 996's

Hi, in the middle (ie started today and plan to finish tomorrow) my 996 caliper conversion. Noticed that although theres alot of info about what brakes to fit and what disks fit underneath 16s etc. theres not really a step by step guide or walkthrough as to how to complete the conversion. Will type up what I've done today and add some pictures, which I hope would be of some help to others!

Just a few questions before tomorrow:

Is it best to fit the bracket to the stub axle first or to fit it to the caliper and then onto the car?

When bleeding the brakes what do i need to do! Its the only part of the job that Im not sure about, and I can see it being a pain in the ****. if someone could give me a few steps or an idea as what to expect then I'd feel alot more comfortable! Might buy an easy-bleeding kit, which one should I get?

    Cheers

    Phil

You can use an Eezibleed kit, available from Halfrauds IIRC, if you're working alone. I normally have a handy assistant, so I do it the old fashioned way.
Although trying to sleep the night after with "On - Off - On - Off ........" in your head is a PITA.

I would fit the bracket first, as it's easier to get it to line it up, and then torque up the bolts I find. But it's all pretty simple tbh.

Kind of, and yes that is very good info, but again, its more for the avid car tinkerer, and not really a step by step guide. I'm typing one up for someone whose not so good with a spanner (not that I'm particularily good)! However, I am using that site for the part numbers in my document, and I will be crediting it!

Get the easibleed kit from Halfords. Bleeding the brakes was an easy job with this.
I pushed a good litre of blue racing fluid through the system to bleed mine with no problems at all.
I did fit my caliper carriers first, then lightly nipped the bolts on the caliper, applied the footbrake a couple of times to centralise everything, then torqued up the mounting bolts fully.
