  • Cap head bolts

Anyone know where I can get some m12x1.5x55mm stainless or other cap head bolts? Iv had to cut the caliper adaptors off the car and I need new bolts iv searched and phoned loads of places but they seem to be a specialised bolt and can only get them in boxes of 50 and over

Where abouts in Wales are you? Local engineering shop to me sells them but in steel. I don't think stainless is recommended there. Alternatively, pop to your local breakers and get some nice galvanised ones of a newer Audi. You might have to cut down a bit (I did).

Ok, any good engineering shops near you?
The shop I use is in Cardigan.
My breakers at Tanygroes, just up the coast.
If you are struggling I might have a couple spare.

Owch! Sounds a bit steep (unless they are galvanised vag ones) but now you are sorted.

Really shouldn't use stainless there... High tensile bolts would be much better for the job!

S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...

HT bolts tend to be more expensive on the "half size" i.e. 55mm not 50mm or 60mm.
NEVER use stainless on a critical fastener, they are really pathetically weak in tension - equivalent to around a 4.8 steel bolt.
Any suspension or brake fastener should be minimum 10.9.
OEM fasteners are not galvanised as that would temper the bolt. They are cold zinc sprayed.

Just ordered the ones that ap suggested only went stainless because the guy who took the old ones out said ht and ally don’t mix they were well stuck in there even heat wouldn’t shift them they were fused to the carrier not the hub. I may be buying from you now Alex shortly the ones i had from vrs have corroded around the bolt area on the hub hole. Have to get the old girl back on the road now. Some **** had road rage last night when I was stationary and reversed back at speed smashed the front of my polo and drove off didn’t even get the bloody reg cars truly fu- - - d now

I have just heard about ACF50 from the guy who suggested using the stainless bolts which have just arrived and guess what they sent the wrong ones not cap head but normal ones which I could have bought here for £1.95 each so car still off road until others arrive
