    Rear Brake Loading Valve Block

    Hi
It appears that I have a slight leak from the brake regulator valve piston. Does anyone know if these can be refurbished with a seal kit?

I’ve had a search and cannot find any new valves available using the part number 443624151H, Could I use a valve off a saloon on my Coupe? These seem available at a reasonable price.

Does anyone have a good spare that they would be willing to part with?

    Cheers
    Graeme

So I’ve now stripped it off to have a look to see if the seals could be replaced. Once I took the big rubber cover off it was full of crud, so cleaned it all out to see how it’s put together.
The 2 small pistons seem to be pressed in as I can move them but they won’t come out. I’ll need to have a better look tomorrow.

So with some searching I’ve found that they are NLA even aftermarket. So I’m wondering if one from an 80 Saloon/Avant might fit. They look slightly different but not far off, or I could just try bypassing it and see how it goes.

Would there be any problems or issues in bypassing it?

    Cheers
    Graeme

As you have it off the car, maybe filling the ports with brake cleaner and then working the lever might dislodge dirt which may be having an adverse effect on the seals ? Worth a try ?

      Personally I wouldn't by-pass it.

Fitting a good one from a saloon/estate should work.....is the lever operated by a spring attached to the axle?.....if yes is the spring position adjustable?

        Hi
the spring is bolted to the saloon one rather than just hooking on. The one used on the 80 was also used on Golf’s until about 2004. So a local breaker has a few Golf’s in at the moment that should have one fitted. I will go over tomorrow and try and get one to see if I can make it fit before buying a new one.
if that doesn’t work I’ll bypass it just to get it mobile and out of my garage.
Looks like the more modern car don’t use a regulator to the rear brakes and just let the ABS control it.
