Buyed these black beauties for Bi turbo brakes but are they real bi turbo's????????
Disk is a S8 323x30mm Zimmerman disk.
If it's not a Bi turbo can someone tell me wat the are (from witch porsche)
And witch disk do i use then.
To me it looks as if they are one size too small. The caliper/brake pads should cover more of the disc. Maybe these calipers are 16" instead of the 17"ones as used on the RS2.
Peter
Is it interesting to machine them down to 314mm???
Or must it be 304mm (than its better to sell these disks and buy new one)
If anyone is interested in a disk swap??
Looking at the photos I think the disk is too small for the caliper. I think that the caliper may be from the 993TT 1993/4. The disk for that was 322 x 32mm though? I'm confused I must say
There was a special option on the RS2 which used the 993TT brakes and the same caliper brackets. The disk size I believe was 322mm x 32mm.
I have a very similar looking caliper which was from the 993 carrera which had 304mm x 32mm disks. when I put this caliper on the A8 324mm disk the sides touched but the centre of the disk did not come up to the edge of the pads. Which is the opposite of the way the photo looks.
I don't know what the maximum disk size Porsche used with non-monoblock calipers was.
From the pic it looks like the ones I have.
from 928GTS. They use 304mm discs, I use 314x30 s6 discs with these calipers.
If you have the part number I can look it up
On the back of my brake pads there is the part number 993 - xxx-xxx-xxx. This may give a quick guide as to the car they came off. Steffen may well be able to help with the caliper part number.
Here is a picture with the BiTurbo calipers with S8 323x30 mm discs.
(Sorry for the large image...)
As someones already mentioned, I think it's the calipers Porsche have been using with 304x32mm discs (mine are from 993 C), and the easiest way to go is with the A8/S6 disk 314x30mm and have 5mm spacer between caliper and adapter.
