    Boxter S Brakes

    Gents,

looking to upgrade the brakes on the S2, 996 calipers seem to be the way to go, i have heard that Boxter S brakes would do the job.

please post your views as i have found these

are they worth what the seller is asking?

    cheers

I *think* those are the correct ones, they need to be fronts as the rears are different and dont accomodate the correct size disc required.

I'll let others confirm for definite tho as its been a while since ive been reading this stuff.

The calipers are fine if they are defo fronts off the boxter S, they are the same as the 996 ones. The discs are no good to you though really, Audi A8 or corey specials the way to go.

£500? I'm sure Bry could get you a better deal.

I'd expect to pay £250-£300 for a set of black 996's and *maybe* a little more for the reds but nnot much. Certainly wouldn't hang out £500 for a set personally....

Think my 996's which are black versions of the above cost me £250 for the pair and included postage too.

I think the Seat carriers were about £20 each from the stealers, this was at least a year ago i looked though.

cheers guys, i did think that £495 was a bit pricey for them. I'll have to get in touch with Bry and get myself sorted with upgrade to bigger brakes as you all know standard ones are not up for the job.
I was speaking to Raymor he was saying that Seat cupra R Brembo could also be the way to go

I have only had the car 2 months and just had to call matercard to increase my limit not good

The Seat carriers are £18 and a few pence each from the dealers inc VAT having bought some two weeks ago for my conversion.

Be aware that you do need to machine them to locate the caliper in both the radial and axial dimensions.

From memory the carrier to hub dimension takes the bracket to 8.7mm (but please don't quote me on that) and the radial diemension basically requires the 'tabs' machining from the carrier (assuming that you are going to use 314mm A8 discs).

Would also advice anybody attempting the 996 updgrade to check the connection between the hardline and the flexible hose. Mine were seized solid on both sides. Passenger side is easy but drivers side is a pain to route the new hard line.

BTW - £500 seems a little pricey. I paid just over £200 for my 996 calipers direct from a reputable porsche breaker and they arrived including the pad mounting kit.
