Obviously the 3b has a different unit to the aby but other than size/cosmetics, what are the other differences and is there any benefit in changing to the later (upgraded/better????) unit?

Later one has an ECU of it's own that can be accessed with vag-com for fault codes etc.
No idea if a swap would be easy though.
