S2 Avant Rear Caliper Q

Hi all

I'm after your help again please. Had a quick search but cant really find anything. My rear off side brake caliper has siezed due to a split seal. Its a 1994 Avant. Now, are the rear calipers S2 specific or are they just Audi 80 items? Also, can you just buy a repair kit with seal etc, or is it just a case of having to buy a complete new unit?

Does anybody have one for sale by chance???

The rear calipers are Audi 80/90 Avant quattro specific and yes you can buy a seal kit, costs £14.70 inc vat from your local stealer

Thats great. What comes in the kit? Also is there a special tool to get the piston back in the caliper as i remeber it took me an age to get it back in last time.

You need a piston windback tool - these screw in - they dont push in. A good tool merchant like machine mart can locate you a kit for all Girling rear calipers... I got one made by Clarke I think.

Make sure the handbrake actuator isn't seized on the caliper - they are notorious for it. You might need reco'd calipers - approx 100 each side.

Only other caliper that I know bolts straight on is the 8E0 item from neu S4/Cabrio - it works with the 300x22 disc and carriers from same vehicle. Expensive upgrade but potent - and needs big fronts to justify it really.
