Did you check all the ABS sensors on the wheel hubs?

There is a special VAG/Bosch tester for this stuff - not cheap and rather hard to get one I would imagine - BIG money in UK.

There are some other tricks to test this stuff on the cheap, but I'd never advise anyone to do it. Brakes are too important.

If you get the 4WD running gear manual from Erwin it tells you all you need to know.

You can use a multimeter to test the output from each sensor.

Jack up each corner and have an assistant spin the wheel while the output from the sensor is measured.

You're looking for a consistent value at each corner. I think it's about 20mV typically. If a sensor is iffy, one of them will give a different reading from the rest.

Yeah - can't remember voltage expectations, but VAG-COM is great for this test also as each wheel speed can be seen in its own channel in Group 0. Makes it really easy to spot a duff sensor - or simply to view any fault codes stored in ABS controller.
