hy all, i own 1991 s2, 3b and since purchase it has some kind of abs problem. i usually drive without abs (which is quiet silly on slippery roads, but when i turn it on it works even on light breaking, it sometimes even turns on without breaking. i can hear strong sound o the abs working. have you ever experienced this kind of problem.
You can use a multimeter to test the output from each sensor.
Jack up each corner and have an assistant spin the wheel while the output from the sensor is measured.
You're looking for a consistent value at each corner. I think it's about 20mV typically. If a sensor is iffy, one of them will give a different reading from the rest.
Yeah - can't remember voltage expectations, but VAG-COM is great for this test also as each wheel speed can be seen in its own channel in Group 0. Makes it really easy to spot a duff sensor - or simply to view any fault codes stored in ABS controller.
