    Ummmm ????? Grinding noise????

    Hi guys.

SOrted the caliper bolt out as per previous thread. Now after having the car 4wheel aligned today after a spirited drive I am getting a rubbing noise and vibration through teh pedals only when warm????

Any clues or ideas. Everything looks fine the only thing I can think of is the pads binding slightly but they should be okay as all in new in that area.

Def coming fromt eh front though. Only happens at slow speed in a straight line, not when turning the wheel to the left or right.

On the plus side the car feels alot more planted after the Wizard worked his majic today on the alignemt (and unstuck one of the track rods!!!)

So any thougths on this noise!!! Only started today.....

Have a quick look under and see if you can see anything that might rub etc.
I know its not likely but when you lost the calliper bolt could it have damaged the pads/discs in any way?

Not that I can think of I may just have to give it a few good stops to adjust the pads from the caliper movement possibly!!!

Thats a no then been for a good drive today and a spirited one to which would have got the pads to a flat surface. Couple of emergecy stops thrown in there for good measure from 70 - 10mph. as soon as the padal is released hey presto there is the noise again. As is the calipers aren't retracting enough. Thinking I may have some air in the system it seem only to be happening on both front calipers now so would the air be a fair assumption????

Brakes are hard on the pedal with very little squeeze and bite head into steeringwheel hard so can't really figure this one out????

Can you feel a high frequency vibration in the steering wheel? Goes away when brakes are applied or by turning the wheel slightly to either side while driving? I have the same issue and I believe it's a common problem for those who have done a Porsche big brake upgrade. I don't recall exactly what causes it (or how to remedy it) but I think there are some threads on this. Not much help I know, but sometimes it's nice to know there are others who feel your pain!

Wouldn't have thought so as they are brand new and done less than 1K miles..... will try a system bleed tomorow and see if that helps.

                  Hope it helps.
