Today I did the first test in putting the brake pedal down. I mean, really down

O my God, this is brutal! Eye-popping i would say and still easy controllable.

It is comparable like the step going from standard S2 Girling to my previous 304mm Small Reds. It is still sensitive to operate, like with the smaller Porsche brakes, so no need for a heavy food.

      Sounds cool, um heavy food??

      Take it thats a typo.

Is it easy to get hold of all the bits for the conversion?

If people are interested I can have another batch made and offer the brackets for a price of 199 Euro or 135 GBP excl. shipping costs.

Send me a PM if you want a pair.

Yes, just the brackets. I can also deliver the bolts, but since I do not have a cheap address for them (I paid 75 Euro for extra strong bolts) you might be able to find some at your local iron-materials shop. They are not normal bolts I can say. Called 7 shops to finally get my hand on them.

Off course I can always ship the brackets with bolts if you prefer.

Are there any inserts in the brackets for the threads?

They are ready to be directly mounted. They will be drilled with M12x1,5 like they are normally done on the OEM Audi RS2 brackets.

OEM brackets aren't made from aluminium.
Aluminium requires inserts for threads in critical applications.

The threads of my brackets run from top to bottom. The bolts go through the 3cm aluminium completely. I know several tuners building brackets from aluminium. It's no problem. I think Corey also makes them from aluminium just like Jeffer and Cees.

I know that anything we thread has inserts in it if it's aluminium.
I know that Corey anodises his brackets for a reason.

The initial strength of the aluminium threads is not in question, but the breakdown of the thread over a period of time is. The bolts wear out the threads in aluminium, especially in an evironment full of brake dust. That's why inserts were specifically invented for that application.

You really should use a steel insert when threading aluminium in critical applications. The military insist on it, even the toughest grades of aluminium armour have to have steel inserts where they are tapped. If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me.

Sound engineering advice from the boys up north. Steel brackets or thread inserts are essential, I would not be happy with alumium if it was my car, it has a habit of stress fracturing over time, even if the UTS has not been exceeded when torquing up the bolts. That's not a good look when it comes to brake applications .

So if I anodise my brackets it should be OK? Or do I still need these steel inserts?
