    RS2 Rear brake problem

Ive just had a phone call for the chap who is sorting my car with a problem.

I will try to explain as best i can so bare with me.

He said that there is a aluminium back plate that the n/s rear hub attaches too and it is fractured and audi uk say it is NLA......I hope that this makes sense to someone, has anyone heard of this problem?
At the moment i am ******ed unless this item can be found, your help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

Dont panic Tom... im sure this rings a bell if it was on here or on RS246 a short while back... do a search in the brakes section for RS2 brakes on here... vag parts probably do it, if not someone will be along to put your mind at ease and point you in the right direction

        Tom,
If you are struggling, i could weld it up for you? would be just as strong as a new one.

Yep this happened to me when the garage was refurbing the rear handbrake shoes/springs (comes as a kit). The alloy backing plate crumbled to dust onto which the handbrake mechanism is attached.
I took the chance to also replace both rear wheel bearings and refurb the rear calipers i.e. new back plates (eventually replaced them as it worked out cheaper than car off the road to refurb originals)

Ask Doug from MRC - I had one sent over to MRC from the states courtesy of Saltinot.
AFAIK it's still at MRC unused.... MRC managed to get me a new one. You're welcome to the old one if it's still there.
