    Red Brake Dust?!

    Hi all

I'm still quite new in this forum and it has already helped a lot of situations.

So it did with the descision on brake pads. Since many here seem to be happy with Ferrodo DS2500 pads I bought those as well (combined with the slottet 323x30 S8-Disc from Tarox). Stopping power is really excellent with this combo, but after I've been to the Ring over the weekend I've noticed that the brake dust on my wheels wasn't black, it was kind of RED!?!

Has anyone using the 2500 pads experienced the same?

    regards,
    Matt

Are you sure its not the caliper paint that's breaking up and is now on the wheels, you got any pics of the pad ?, how much is left on it ?

nope, mine is defo black dust, shed loads of it actually, they do dust a bit but they do stop If it's red then I agree, could be the paint, is anything rubbing on the caliper?

Well, actually both pads and discs are almost new (about 1000km). But since I've done the brakes I had some problems with this => http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23968

So maybe it's really something rubbing on the caliper?? I'll have a closer look at them tomorrow...

I had a red tinge in my pad dust for a while, but I can't be 100% certain if that was with the OE Textar pads in the Porsche calipers or when I changed to DS2500. I think it was with the DS2500s and I had black calipers so it couldn't have been the paint. I was using slotted discs, which may skim the pad more aggressively and produce a thicker layer of dust making any slight colour in the pad material more noticeable? I don't use slotted discs anymore and I haven't noticed the red tinge for a long while (but then it spends most of it's life at quattronics).
