Audi 80 avant rear brake upgrades

I understand that going to s2 spec involves changing a lot for no real gain, and the handbrake is a pain. What usefull brake upgrades can be economically carried out at the rear?

    cheers

there may be other options open to you since the hubs will be a different pcd

I realise they are 4x108, are there any regularly carried out options or is it a case of selecting some calipers and suitable disks from autodata and them making them fit?

With the exception of the PCD the rear brake assemblies are the same as the S2 avant. This means the various versions of the S2 upgrades (256mm, 280mm, 300mm etc) could be fitted but you would have to source appropriate 4x108 discs.

unfortunately I don't know of a list of 4x108 discs to compare sizes and offsets though.

I'm guessing you are aiming for big power. have you considered converting to 5x112 hubs etc?

I have, but I was told for the front it wasnt necessary as the 996 conversion can still be done with 4 stud. I could swap, I assume the bearings and cvs are the same so its just a case of courcing hubs and swapping them in with new bearings?

Surely the 4x108 hubs implies the smaller CV joints and driveshafts - if going for S2 performance than go for 5x112 hubs and shafts.

that being the case I will, in vauhalls (my previos projects) 4 and 5 stud hubs are completely interchangeable, using the same shafts and cvs!
