    Ferodo vs. EBC

Former owner installed Redstuff/Greenstuff on the wonderwagon, and always complained about lack of bite. He even failed a MOT due to lack of brake power.
I didn't want to shorten the RS2 nor fail the MOT, so I got hold of the Ferodo DS2500 pads. Had to grind down the backing plates some, due to the usual corrosion issue.
Night and day difference, as expected. They will get even better, when they are run in some more, but still, the brakes are now nothing less than mind blowing. "Small"Reds, but will trigger the ABS right away, even from high speed on dry ground. In other words, bigger brakes would not help shorten stop lengths, except for potentially better fade resistance for track work.

Well, I think ds2500 is "comparable" to EBC yellowstuff.

If you look at UK EBC catalog, you will find, that they list redstuff as "standard" pads for all high power Audis and Yellowstuff as upgrade. How can you tell? Look at the first number in part code. 2 is for Redstuff and 3 for Yellowstuff. (Optimax part code would be 1 number shorter, 1 is for Greenstuff, which they don't list as available part for S/RS Audis) For pad shapes you already have to take the first number in partcode away.

This change happened when Yellowstuff came out.

ferrodo Ds2500's are an amazing pad for proper brakes on the RS & S2 etc. The bite with some decent heat in them is unreal and they wear well and dust a reasonable amount.

Also, has to be said that they seem to be kind to discs too

Yellowstuff will have even poorer bite when cold than Redstuff, and Redstuff was scary enough. OK when hot, but worthless when cold.
The Ferodos are awesome when cold, and even better when hot.

Nope, Yellowstuff is EBC "jackofalltrades", Bluestuff is major NONO on any road car.

Preaching to the converted, DS2500s all round on the S2 for me and they're great. Hold up to some serious abuse and there's always a bit left if you need it.

I used to have redstuff and when hot they were amazing, stopped the car very quickly, but as a daily driver how many people in traffic can get the pads hot enough. I found i had to nail the pedal hard as hell just to get half decent braking when cold. I also found they clogged up the grooves, and were quite messy.
I now use ds2500's, which are great from cold, awe inspiring when hot, last long, but on the down side have eaten my discs a tad, but hey i stopped didnt i.

I had Yellowstuffs on at Audi Driver and although they were good when hot (but ***** when cold) I found they ran very hot and didn't do much for my brake fluid or dust seals. The pad surface actually bubbled up around the edges.

I now also have DS2500s and ran them for a session at Mallory Park and they're streets ahead. Absolutely zero fade at Mallory and mind blowing when they're hot.

Can someone give the Ferodo 2500 brake pads part number for Porsche 996 monoblocks?

                  Thanks,

Are DS2500s gonna make so much brake dust that they'll cause my brakes to squeek?
                    That's my problem just now.

Are these comparisons for the standard brakes or the porsche upgrade?

Man, mine squeak al the time. A power hose gets rid of the squeak for a short period, then it's right back.
