Two things I wouldnt compromise on, brakes and tyres - the only things that keep you on the road and stop you falling off it
    You're right!! I couldn't agree more.

Do you think I need to get some new calipers? If so, I might as well upgrade?

I took the little metal plates off and cleaned it all right up. They are held on with an allen key headed bolt, which is most likely hiding under a lot of brake dust etc. Then I built it all back up with copper grease etc and so far so good working very very well.

I put Textar pads in and very happy with them, although do have boosting problems so not exactly pushing pads to their limits!

I got mine from a friend who works for a Porsche specialist. He recommended either the Textars as a decent fast road pad or the Pagid Blues as a very good fats road pad. Thats the main two they fit to the Porsches they get in with the same brakes as the RS2's.

Also I found this place http://www.ultimot.de/Komponente.php?id=273&TypWahl=005 if you want cross drilled discs. this looked to be the cheapest at the time buy a way. I ordered some CAT bypass pipes from them which arrived quickly and fitted perfectly. I believe that cross drilled rears are made for a sport pack version of some Porsche's but my friend quoted me over £200 a disc, and thats mates rates!

no i think the calipers will clean up but i would get them on the bench and then flush the fluid etc, check the seals and all the pistons move free too. Do the overhaul and then know that everything is fresh back on

Cheers guys, tomorrow I'm going to take the calipers off and give them an overhaul.

What's the best procedure for flushing through and testing\regreasing pistons etc? Is there a guide I can have a look at somewhere?

          Cheers

If you decided on a full refurb, ie respray and new sliders and nipples.
Get in touch with Rob, GT500 on this forum.
            Far cheaper than new calipers.
He believes calipers are powerfull enough.
Where people go wrong is using poor pads.
Might be worth a pm to him if your still undecided.

If your not bothered about the cosmetics of the caliper, then follow the good advice of Caliper removal, and a real good clean up.

Cheers RS2315, I'd love to get Rob to refub them, I looked at another thread where he restored some calipers and couldn't believe they were the same ones, incredible work!!!

Unfortunately I need to use the car so have to get them sorted today for the time being. I think I'll take them off and give them a damn good clean up, my friend has a gunk tank so I'll put them in there for a good clean up. I already have some new nipples for them and will get them properly refurbed at a later date when I can afford to be without the car.
