    Brake bleeding?

    Hi all

Just a quick question about bleeding the brakes.

Just about ready to fit all the new brakes and disc's to my S2 (movits) so all fluid will be drained front and rear (new calipers and discs to rear as well), is there a recommend 'order' in which to bleed each caliper? I would imagine fronts first but which route round the wheels needs to be taken?

Any help on this would be gratefully received. I have searched other posts quickly to no avail, but apologies if this has been asked before!

    Cheers

    Rich

Start with the furthest point from the master cylinder first. i.e. one of the rears (I don't know off hand which one)

S2 brake circuits are split front and rear alright.

Best to bleed rear first - do so with handbrake OFF !

To flush all fluid thru system, then reckon on purging about 250ml from each corner - thats what the OFRM says as well.

Nice1, cheers - I thought the rear was the first target and I'm glad I asked. Seems advisable to start on the right at both ends.

Thanks all, guess what I'm off to do in a bit?

Looking 4ward to some serious stopping power and finally getting the new wheels on!

Thinking about it, I haven't drove the S2 for around 8months now So am I going to be in a good position to notice the improvements?

Still lots to do before I can slot into it to drive it tho! :mischeif:

          Thanks to all

Hi - can anyone confirm whether it's ok to follow these instructions for an S6? Is the brake system exactly the same?

            Cheers,
            Tom

Yes you can, but there is a proportioning valve connected to the rear suspension that needs to be held open. Its attached to one of the suspension arms by a spring, idea is when the rear of the car rises the valve gets pulled closed reducing the braking force. So if you have the end rear jacked up you need to hold the valve in the open position.

Excellent. Thanks for that. Is there anything else I need to know for the S6?
