    Ca i use 993 calipers???

Can 993 calipers be used instead of 996 calipers? If i use 993 ones which brackets and discs should i use? (I don't want to machine the disc!!!)

Yes but as they are two piece design you can get corosion between the two halves and this can lead to them squeaking or some funny things like a mate had on his S4 with 993TT callipers. I'd hold out for some 996s personally, 2.5 years and no probs for me.... fingers crossed!

Cool, I'm sure if you get a set in good condition then they'll be fine but I suppose they'll be a few years old so might be worth ahving them overhauled if you're unsure.

i have been looking in to the big reds off the 993tt as i an yet to see that the 996 monos are any good as i have had problems ever since they went on. could of been a **** set that i was sold but still i am not happy with them.i remember bertman having his flex apart and if you compare them to the latest 997 turbo monos they have a bridge linking the two halfs together making them a lot more stiffer

I believe that big reds with RS2 brackets can run 322mm discs on an RS2, perhaps you could get the discs slotted at work?

i thought about using porsche disc but the prob is that the centre bore is different also, so wouldnt fit on the hub too nice. Want to use either 314 or 323 a8 discs. Theyre cheap enough! Keeping my eyes peeled for calipers at the mo, i think many combos will work with the correct machining to the bracket or machining of a spacer of some sort.

993 calipers are a leading edge fitment while the S2 is a trailing edge.

This results in the pistons being the wrong way round for even pad wear.

couldn't you just swop them from left leading to right trailing and the same the other side that would keep things the right way round wouldn't it. anyway just been doing a bit of hunting on the net. the calipers on a 928GTS are trailing, and are the same as the 993tt big reds calipers but black(big blacks)
