used LM grease (grey colour) when I last did it and still siezed. I wonder whether new guide pins might be the first option as I definately dont have £350 kicking about at the moment....anyone got the part number for the repair kit to hand? Does it include the rubber boots too?
David, giuide pins are only avaliable with new carriers which is ridiculous but true. The boot kits come with the correct high temp white grease for the pins which is handy.
With some time and sandpaper you can clean up the guides to some degree. Bad ones get heavily pitted but its a cheap enough fix if thats all is wrong and your pistons and the hbrake mechanism are still OK. The rubber boots come with the right grease for the guides.
cheers guys, yeah i have sanded them and fully cleaned and re-greased the carrier holes and pins so I think they are truely on their last legs. Will try that Ford p/n, cheers Mike failing that 8EO is on the cards once funds allow
