Which type of brake rotors warp easier?

2 piece ones or 1 piece units?

TBH disk warpage is a bit of an urban myth mate, modern disks don't warp.

      Surely thats a joke ^

Discs on my S2 are warped and will be done with by the next trackday.

Rotors (as in 2 piece, bells and rotors) can warp for all sorts of reasons, one of the main reasons a rotor will warp is incorrectly torqing the bolts on it, also not doing them in sequence, when the rotor changes temp the poor tightening can make the warp.

AP have had all sorts of material problems over the last few years, we did several rotors (330x28) on a friends Cosworth over a 2 year period, all torqued well, just crap grade of metal I guess caused by AP trying to save money.

I've been advised to use Powervane rotors on my Mk2 Escort, they are over £100 cheaper than the AP equivalent too ! typically I have read good and bad things about those but I'd rather start with a cheaper set then go for AP's and have a warping problem whilst being £380 lighter for a pair of rotors.

Any rotor/ disc will warp if you do not use it correctly, don't expect anything to last if you belt off up the road at 160 then try to stop on a 6 pence, they wont like it one bit. When on track I'll do one or two laps to get the car upto temp, thats all fluids and obviously the brakes, after 20-30 mins I'll give it a nice cool down lap which allows the discs to cool down nicely.

A lot of modern cars now run proper brake ducts, typically we found out on the new M3 that they do but the covers are left on in the inner wheel arch from the factory so they wouldn't of been doing anything, obviously manufacturers dont expect that every M3 or similar is going to get used that hard which is why I suspect the brake cooling plates were covered.

Audis as I have found out are big heavy barges, If you consider what they fit to the modern RS4 its hardly that suprising that the older Audis suffer from brake issues.

Unless you have proper brakes on a S2 your rarely going to go the ring without ruining a set of brakes.

Some 378mm AP's would do the job nicely

            I know that, I have B7 RS4 discs and 8pots front and mono's rear.

              are they warped though?
or have the discs heated unevenly and created ridges of harder material on the disc face which cause that pedal wobble?
Its normally not beeding discs in properly that causes that, not the disc actually warping.

pretty sure it was jas11n who put up a thread with a link explaining the term 'warping' is actually wrong.

apparently it was more to do with transfer of pad material to the disc
