    Help with gt3 caliper upgrade

Hi, I have in my possession a set of front gt3 calipers 996 351 429 10 / 996 351 430 10 and have been trying to work out what i need to fit them to my s2. Has any one got any guides on whats needed? From what i can tell the front brake disks from the W8 passat are a suitable option for the disks has anybody tried these or got a better option? Also I will be making the brackets myself out of mild steel so if anybody has any dimensions for the brackets then that would be much appreciated. This upgrade is obviously still in the planning stage and i wont be trying to have it fitted properly till after winter when i get my 18" summer wheels back on.

You obviously have no expirience tn the break upgrade and your making the brackets your self? I would say thats brave!

Engine mods etc... ye ok if it goes 9 times out of 10 the passanger will be ok, think at the forces when trying to stop at 100, 125 or even 150+mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Just my opinion tho!
Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!

Yes you are probably right. I just fancied i bit of a project. I can get the brackets made up professionally if need be. But at this point I just need advice as to what parts have been tried and tested for this brake setup.

          i have gt2 6 pots.

          you need
          a hose kit
discs of choice. i use 993 tt with custom bells
pads. i picked the cheapest to start with red stuff. around 120 a set of fronts. they work.
toureg pad retaining kit for 6 pots.
          brackets for calipers.
bolts to hold it together. use RS2.

be careful the spacing on 6 pots is not the same as 4 pots for the bracket.

Thanks for the input so far. It 4 pots that i have. If anyone with 4 pot GT3 calipers could let me know what disks they are running I would be grateful. I am looking for a off the shelf disk to try and keep the costs down.

I run the GT3 4 pots with 360mm discs. It's a tight fit, but it works!

Had to make my own adapters and I bought RS4 discs from Zimmermann that are for sale at Ultimot and Ebay.de

Brake power is incredible, compared to OEM S2 brakes.

So 360mm disks are the baby's to go for? That's good news as I was not sure what would be best. You wouldn't happen to have the dimensions of your custom adapters available? pretty please.

From what Audi are the Girling 41/43? S4/S6 C4?

Standard I thought these calipers were used on 276mm discs, but 335mm is quite a big jump. Do you have pictures of your rear-setup please?

Piccys and specs would be good, what about the hand brake cable?

I think Kev (aka Bambridge) is looking at doing a mounting bracket for the 429/430 Caliper...

I know I measured up a set of calipers for him...

He does do a bracket for the 996-351-425 caliper but the holes are 130mm not 140mm as for the 429/430 set up..

                        Ask him the question!!!

Would save one hell of a lot of work....
