GT3 MonoBlock Disc & Pad Life

Back in August 2006 I upgraded the RS2 to run GT3 monoblocks up front and chose to run Pagid RS29 pads all round with 32mm discs 965-351-045-00 and 965-351-046-00.

They are due to be renewed sometime fairly soon as the discs are now only 30.16 mm thick and the pads about 5/6mm of material left. (Originally 13mm front and 12mm rear)

I wanted to gauge the overall lifespan of this setup with other disc pad combinations.

This combo has been in use for 2.5 years and has covered about 25,000 fast road miles.
They have also driven 15 laps of the Nordschleife, a Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Cadwell and two Bedford full on track days.

I reckon this seems fairly good, albeit from my rather limited experience. How does this stack up against say other popular pad choices like DS2500? The flip side of the coin is that the pads are about £430 a set but do perform magnificently and seem to last....

I would be very interested to hear about other forum members disc/pad performance/lifespan/price ratios etc. Many thanks.

My grooved discs killed a set of DS2500s in 3 months with 10 laps of the ring, 1/2 day at combe and a Donington... so 25k isn't too bad IMO

DS2500s are great pads, only heard good things. Do need a touch of heat for road use but on track they're great. Go Brembo in the discs IMO.

I cleaned up by 996 monoblock (996.351.425 / 996.351.426) setup on saturday, almost exactley a year since it was installed along with the S8 323x30 discs and DS2500 pads.

Having put 15k miles on the clock since the installation, including a trip to the ring with 8 laps, but mostly aggressive weekend driving, they are about 50% used. Id say that compares to yours in terms of lifespan, but at a cost of £125/set of pads.

Wear is about the same with my setup too as Sonics...

I think my rotors are a bit warped though. I'll see if they can be skimmed a bit by a machine shop.

DS3000 are also good. But tend to eat discs.

          25K is good.
