RE: I think the advantage with the custom rotors would be

that they weigh a lot less. <
Hey Driftin' Jo! I thought that too but have learned something.
2 piece units have a tendency to warp easier than the single rotors:. Especially when used in a daily basis. Yes they are lighter and perform just as well as the single units but they do not stand up well in areas where up & down temperatures and snow and rain and freezing conditions are prominent.

This thread really does cover it including various part numbers:

The problems on this were down to trying to fit these within the std 16" Avus wheels.
If you have 17" wheels or bigger you should be able to go to the 323mm disc. I think GSF does Brembo discs for about £100 they call them S8 discs!
A while back there was the option of using Seat sourced caliper brackets machined to suit. This is no longer viable as they put the price up so far as too make the RS2 brackets the most cost effective. I am not sure who would be best to get them from, perhaps QCorner?
Jamo has mentioned the use of a washer between the bracket and caliper. This is to ensure that the pad makes full use of the friction surface of the disc. Ideally they should be flush or the pad sit slightly below.

      So the basic formula is:
Pair of 996 351 425/426 calipers. Black is 996. Silver is 996C4. Boxster S is red.
Either A8 314mm discs or if you have room S8 323mm discs.
      RS2 caliper brackets.
Pads of your choice to suit calipers.
Again, brake hoses and pipes to your choice. You don't need RS2 pipes. Just need to source some pipes of the equivelent length and fittings. Any decent Motor Spares usually has the facility to knock them up cheaply. Of course if you want braided then you will need to get them made.
All the other bits and bobs are mentioned I believe. Fine pitch (1.5) metric bolts are sometimes hard to get so might be policy to get them from the same sources as the brackets. I believe you need the longer bolts from the RS2 with the 322mm brakes not the regular RS2 304mm. The part number N 100 650 02 is for bolts M12X1.5X70 which is close!

Perhaps you should read that thread a few times and post for clarification of any issue you are uncertain of! Hope thats useful

Properly Designed two Piece Floating Rotors are less likely to warp !
You don't have the problem of the outer edges being real hot and the center part bolted to the wheel being cold with a lot of temperature variation in between, this is why a lot of one piece rotors warp.
