    323mm, 330mm or 345mm x 30m discs

    Hi,

    Looking for a bit of advice, I am tossing up over these three disc sizes, wallet says go with the 323mm but i am tempted by the 345s at £76 each.

    The calipers I have are for a 330ish disc, would I have any problems stretching to a 345 diameter, e.g. pad sweep etc?

    Cheers,

              Not sure, but I get the feeling that you would need new carriers to move the caliper out a little.
              What size wheels have you got? That may also be the deciding factor.

                  @Ant.....these: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3048

                  Just found a place doing the 345x30 shipped inc vat for £130 a pair I think that settles that issue then pending any problems with the calipers which it seems shouldn't be a problem.

                  I am about to upgrade to some 8x18 Rs4's

                    Anyone know what the maximum disc radius that my 968CS capliers can handle? I've got 304 discs at the moment, inside 17"s, but you can never have too much braking power IMHO.
                    I was thinking of 314s and a 5mm spacer on the caliper bracket?
                    @David -go big, it's the only answer!

                      i think you could get away with 322 as with the RS2 which the 968cs caliper is closely resembling?

                        You will need to machine the inside radius of the caliper to fit the 345's, so that you can achieve the correct pad sweep area.
                        If you remove 3mm this allows a perfect pad contact, while still allowing a good caliper/disc clearance.

                          Sorry to be a bit of a dumb *** Corey but can you explain exactly what you mean, i am guessing that i'll need to remove 3mm in depth but do u mean all the way round or just at each end...bearing in mind that there is nothing in the centre except for the pad ratainer. Would that have any structural implications? Also who would be able to do that and any ideas on cost????

                          Cheers,

                            Each end, how can you remove metal from an area where is none?

                            As to who could do it, do you need to ask?
