Unipart 314mm Audi A8 Brake discs

    Are these any good:

Unipart 314mm Audi A8 Front Brake discs

Thought they'd be good for a 996 brake upgrade?

I've found them for £70 a pair delivered, is this a good price? Are they a good make?

I'll post the link up as soon as I've had the chance to buy a pair depending on your opinions of corse!

Don't scrimp on discs. Look for Brembo, they'll be £100 the pair. I got the Zimmerman ones from GSF, don't forget to get your forum discount, should be about £85 delivered.

i'd say depends on the pad and how aggressive they are and how hard you are on the brakes. Brembo would probably still work out cheaper in the end for lifetime though as Andy says. Mine have lasted very well (323mm version) with the ds2500 pads......pads seem agressive but still kind to the discs so had well in excess of 3yrs/30k miles usage

If your going >16" alloys you can use the 323mm upgrade rather than the 314mm. I was very impressed with the 996's, 323mm discs from GSF and Ferodo DS2500 pads. Sold them after a year's hard use including some track action and there was loads of life left in them.

i remember using ebc standard discs with greens. warped discs in a few weeks. the greens were the old originals though retaining more heat.

i then used the turbo groove ebc discs. they were really good but costly.

brembo are made by a common foundry so im told. not really any different to others except branding.

DBA discs are good too. not sure on availability though.

the pad has as much a say in it as anything.

My grooved discs have lasted since Jan 2006 but my last set of DS2500s lasted for 3 months before they were nearly all worn through. Still in there as the car's done 800 miles since the last MOT, 200 of which were to have the exhaust fitted and re-fitted. LOL.

Get Brembo discs and DS2500 pads, there's a reason so many on here use that combination. Discs from GSF, pads from circuit supplies.

Shouldn't that read 17" alloys? I thought 323's were to BIG for standard 16" Avus?

                        Pretty conclusive

                        Thanks everyone, that's pretty conclusive!

I'll splash the extra £15 and get the brembo's.

If anyone is interested, the discs I was talking about are here:

314s and stock 16" Avus is a great stealth option. Looking back I wish i still had some 16s with the 225/50s on they were pretty good. Nice to have the option to return, on the RS6 setup 18s can be a bit tight

                            Prove it....

Tell me a better way than style="text-transform:capitalize" to force capital letters for the first letter of each word in a form input.

style="text-transform:capitalize" works when the operator enters in lowercase, but when they correctly use a capitol first letter, it changes it to lower case
(style="text-transform:uppercase" does the same for all capitols )

Answers by PM will be accepted and if successful, I will then confirm on this thread that you are indeed a 'programmer' (or typist as we call them )

                            Cheers n
