ABS light on + Brake alert intermittent - Help

The brake alert sometimes beeps me sometimes on start up, so checked peddle ie 20 to 30 presses and pedal is solid bar 1cm travel.

Brake warning light stops

ABS light came on whilst driving after peddle dropped about 3"

Peddle all ok now but my pants arent


Suggestions please apart from put a new pair on!!

Is this just a poor sensor connection etc or ..?

Also .. is there any way of testing sensors to check all are operating correctly..

VAGCOM will show fault codes on ABS... As long as its the later ABS - one WITHOUT cancel switch on the console.
