    Hydraulic handbrake (+)

As it's time to mod rear brakes - hydraulic handbrake is about to be installed.
Dear All, can anyone advise which unit to choose? i mean decent manufacturer, net browsing gives just "K-sport hydraulic handbrake" results, I've never heard of it. Can anyone recommend this brand or may be some other manufacturer?
Sorry, if the topic has been discussed before - i've tried to search hydraulic+handbrake through the forum, but without any results
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

is this a road or a track only car? not sure about your neck of the woods but over here they are an MOT failure, you need a mechanical connection for the handbrake.

cant help on manufacturers i'm afraid tho......

How come some new cars over here have what they call a E Brake. I saw a Mk4 Golf R32 running Porsche mono's all round and he just has an E Brake???? Electronic handbrake I think?
Just some finishing touches to do now

i think its just not allowed to be hydraulicn not sure of the specifics but i know hydraulics are a no no. thta said they may allow it as long as it doesn't share the same fluid. anyway, none of this is relevent to the OP.

Its an electromagnetic thing - also fitted to some recent Audis... From about 2004 or thereabouts. There must be same way that is declared OK for MOT and such cos I would have thought a good old metal cable is fundamentally safer. I presume the E-brake mechanism must be locked ON somehow if there is an electrical fault - it must fail safe - don't you think ?

Have it on the A5, my least favourite part of the car, especially at tricky roundabout's, it auto-releases when you drive off, pain in the a** if you start then have to stop because somebody comes round a bend or the roundabout because it releases and then you have to flick the switch to re-engage.

I would have thought failing in the released position would be safer, engaging at speed would probably be worse than releasing when stationary.

We have been investigating the MOT rules here in The Netherlands as well and we learned that a hydrolic parking brake is allowed as well. So I will get me a new project sometime later this year for a rear brake mono-caliper upgrade

I plan to use original fronts at the rear , coupled with 7 positions Tilton proportioning valve (up to 60% reduction), should work fine, as for the fronts I use 316x28 Brembos and goodridge hoses all round. Pic below
