S6 brake upgrade - help wanted

    Hi,
It's time for me to put some big front brakes on my 1995 S6 Avant. I've recently fitted the S6 plus (17") wheel, so should have no problem with clearance.

I like the idea of using a Cayenne caliper, but would really appreciate some advice on

    - what are my options for rotor with custom-made hat for the S6
    - who would you recommend to buy the parts from
    - who would recommend to fit them as i don't have the skills or facilities to do it myself(preferably near London)

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Tom

You don't need custom rotors. There's a 330mm Mercedes disc that fits. Any bigger and it won't fit under your 17s. You need to get the centres bored out to fit over the hub but otherwise they bolt straight up. Then Cayenne calipers will also bolt straight up to the existing caliper mounting on the strut but you need spacers to position the calipers correctly over the discs.

Excellent - thanks very much for that. I didn't realise there was a merc disc that fitted. I don't suppose anyone knows the part number?

Also, I'm struggling to find a used pair of Cayenne calipers. Does anyone know where I can source them from? I've been keeping an eye on eBay over the last few months but nothing has been coming up.

        No part number I'm afraid but I think it's from a 2002 onwards SL500. 330mmx32mm

If you can't find Cayenne calipers then also look for Audi Q7 and VW Toaurag 6 pots. They're exactly the same but unless you like subtle you'll need to get them refinished with Porsche logos as these are plain matt black as standard.

I have a set of RS4 B5 callipers, discs, pads that I think fit straight on!

Worth checking as could be an easy and cost effective upgrade!

              Not without custom caliper brackets.

Cheers dude. Know anything that will fit straight on? I thought maybe brembos from a fiat coupe 20v turbo or even the calipers from a mk4 golf gti. My girlfriends are really quite good for standard things

                  thanks Merlin.

Do you know whether this EBC version of the SL500 discs will work? Are EBC any good?
