Hi all.
Thanks to Dave (Cossykiller) for selling me the brakes and for his/family's fine hospitality in sunny Cornwall, Corey for making the brackets/putting them on, and for giving up his weekends, and for Leigh for showing me just how crap standard brakes were after I drove his HiSpecced car.
Still in the 'getting to know you' stage with the brakes, and there aren't many opportunities to give em some welly where I live, so it may be the brakes are rather more than I need, but better to have too much brake than too little for those 'Damn when did they put up that Gatso' moments.
Been busy with other stuff (fence painting
) but I'll be taking the wheels off for a proper clean up, and the brakes will be cleaned/logo painted on.
Also bought some more pads (£182) for when I kill these, new piston seal kit for each piston, and been advised discs will cost £250 incl vat. Each. Cough.
I'll worry about that when they get like my old grooved discs (it looks like someone has drawn the grooves on with felt tip pen on the old ones, they're so worn. It wasn't me, honest.) but that shouldn't be for a while yet.
So here's a picture of the new brakes (AP Racing 6 pot, 355mm rotor/bell setup, goodridge hoses, dot 5.1 fluid - I don't think I'll need anything more extreme/expensive in the way of fluid - I don't consider brakes a 'consumable' like Lee does
) - and yeah, the 'anthracite effect' on the wheels is nice, isn't it? That's from the old Audi pads. The effect offsets the 'this feels like driving on ice' tyres from Messrs Nangkang and co. The calipers, despite being a 3rd bigger again than Porsche Monoblocks, are lighter than the standard G60 items and so far, seem to do everything they say on the tin...

as in you are...
IMHO
APs
monoblocks

I'm gonna take the wheels off again to finish the painting/cleaning up of the logo anyway. Will take another pic of the vents. They are easy enough to take off if wrong.
