    Changing the bomb

Any words of advice on changing the bomb before I dive in? Looks like a pretty clear shot at it if the car is on a lift. But any BTDT is always useful.

    BTDT
You need a lift. You need to acces from the bottomside to unscrew some mountingbolds and from the topside to unscrew an other mountingbold.
Also hoses are attached that can only be reached, one from the bottom, one from the top.
Also you need a bucket or something to collect all oil that is coming out of the system.

I replaced the original one for a used one that was said to be OK. NOT, it started bothering me again after a few days. To spare myself the work I now put a time delay on the signal so the checksystem doesn't give me the error anymore during the first minut but would give me the signal if something goes wrong afterwards.

      Thanks Carlo,

      Thanks for the BTDT.

I also have a used. Maybe I will try and charge it up with nitrogen first.

A guy here in the states recharges them. About $60 exchange. You need to add a vavle to the side of the unit. Easy but only if you have a mill.

Be sure to get new seal rings before you take it apart. This is a great time to let the system drain and change your hydraulic oil.

No BTDTs, but you might want to lower the pressure in the system before opening any of the high pressure connections. This can be done by pumping the brake pedal until it goes hard.

Yep, as always, go to www.20v.org for some good instructions.

              Carlo,

how is this time delay exactly? I'dlike to give it a try.

              Thanks

                It's quit simple.
                It's a set from conrad (www.conrad.nl) ordenr: 195901 - 8B. (16.5 euro's)
fitted it in a watertight housing (6 euros)

It's basically a relay, switch over an adjustable timedelay (max 150sec).
The timer starts running as soon as 12V is applied. The relay switches any voltage up to 30V.
I just disconnected the supply from the pressureswitch (5V) which is located behind the ABS unit, fed it to the "common port" of the relay. The switched port the is connected back to the pressureswitch.

So, car is started, 12V is applied to the electronics module and max 150sec later the supply voltage (5V) is applied to the pressureswitch which is as of then normally functioning.

                Works fine for me
                Regards
                Carlo

I figure Swedish AGA that fills all kinds of gas tanks can do this job. I guess I need to put in a valve too.

Is any of the other Audi models' bomb suitable to fit in the S2?

                        The CIA is watching you!!!

I am sure that the CIA and NSA filter all email and telephone traffic where the word BOMB is used. So I am sure we are all now considered potential terrorists

Fluid is the hydraulic one. Also known as G 002 000 (VAG part number).

I think the same bomb is for Audi 100/200 - but the price also is the same
