    UrS6 Brake Pads of Choice

Currently running standard brakes and EBC Green Stuff pads all round, its OK but my god to they cook quick and after a couple of decent stops I have no pedal left.

As we all know the S6 is about the same weight as the Titanic so its a fair amount of mass to slow down, add to all of this I am a member of the binary braking club.

So, I do not really want to put on S8/RS2/911/Carbon etc brakes on the car but would like to know if I could get some improvment on changing pads as the current ones will be due soon?

Any recommendations or experiences would be welcomed.

How old is your brake fluid? it's not always pads/disc that get too hot

I can say that EBC yellow stuff is "sterner" stuff while still works cold (even in conditions under 0C). I have experienced UrS6 V8 version on track (and most tracks here are so twisty you don't have good cooling for brakes because of speed) with stock pads and with yellowstuff, both worked very well. That car did have fresh brake fluid though.

My own 2.2t UrS4 with Brembo "junior" calipers with 314mm disc and yellowstuff were a pain to break in, needed so doing to get combination hot enough (fresh RBF600 fluid was needed to do it)
All quattro products have been dermatologically tested, and are safe for daily use.

I have standard brakes on my S6: Brembo discs all round, with EBC Yellowstuff up front, and Redstuff at the back. I have never experienced fade, even when negotiating the Stelvio to Davos road (best road in world according to Top Gear) which was all hairpins up and down mountains!! But boy did they smoke when I came to a standstill.
I think next I will put braided hoses on, and better brake fluid.

That may be a good option, though I thought Yellow was track biased and Red was fast road? Would that lead to issues with no brakes when cold with the Yellows?

Or have I got that all wrong and just need to go to the pub now?

The redstuff are seen as OE standard and the Yellowstuff are seen as upgraded. This is due to the weight of the S6, they heat up quickly. Also, there aren't many manufacturers who make the 8 pads design that our cars have - hence my decision for EBC. If you upgrade to Brembo however, then you have more pad choice than you can shake a stick at.

BTW, no issues with cold stopping.
