What is the size of S2 rotors vs. U.S. CQ rotors?

Are they both the same rotor size, just different bolt patterns? (5x112 for the S2 and 4x108 for the U.S. CQ?) Where can I get S2 replacement rotors cheap? Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty positive they are the same size but only different bolt pattern. Alex at Europrice has them, as for as a US importer...otherwise VagParts.com should be able to definitely hook you up.

    good luck!

They seem to be identical 276MM? the 2.0 coupes had smaller ( Audi 80 size disks and smaller ( single pot) calipers. I am doing a conversion to 5 stud on my CQ20V.

We have a company called German, swedish and French (GSF) and also Euro Car Parts. Don't know about the USA.

        Hi,
You need to do a search. It is posted on one of these brake threads, and has been posted on Audiworld. The USA coupes have the same brake calipers as the S2, only the Hubs and rotors are different.

No cheap front rotors in 5x112 in the states, but the various UK and DE Ebay usually will have them. Or you can order some from a UK outlet.

The rear 5X112 S2 coupe rotors are the same as the 02 and later Stateside A4s.

They can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel.

          Hi Greg,

Snopyro, if you are converting to the S2 5 stud hubs then why not upgrade the brakes? Euro Audi A8 rotors 314mm x 30 with Porsche Calipers or use the A8 calipers if your budget won't stretch that far. lots of threads in the brake section. More money will go for 323mm x 30 mm S8 rotors ( Euro?)

How does the S8 big brake upgrade affect the front braking bias when the rear is left at 245mm? Or is there a rear "big" brake upgrade (5x112) in that can also be done using parts from the Audi bin to balance out the braking bias?

Btw, what are the costs of S2 hubs (front and rear) in US dollars when purchased in the UK or elsewhere in Europe?

I don't think the backs matter much...90% of the braking is done up front. Audi still puts dinky rear calipers on the heavy RS6. For a front heavy car, it won't change much.
It's safer with the small calipers in the rear so you stand less of a chance locking up the rear and loosing control in a turn....not that we can ever loose control with quattro

Look at it this way. I have not done a weigh comparison, but 996 calipers weight less than the G60 caliper. The 314X30 rotor weighs more than the 276X25 rotor. Probably a trade off in weight. Bigger brakes and the same unsprung weight.

And all the items are off the shelf.

                      Greg,
Without a doubt the 314x30 weighs more than the 276x25, and the 996 weighs roughly 9.3 pounds and the G60 weigh roughly 14.2, so the weight savings is minimal...actually only about 4 oz. But, when I said they were heavy, i was talking about the 245x30mm S8 rotor...those must weigh an absolute ton!

Greg, are you still running the 314x30 with the 996...we had corresponded a few times via e-mail about the BIRA set up...which I cannot get brackets for until October...so I am going with 314x30 and the 996 calipers!

I emailed BIRA and was told they didn't have any brackets for the coupe to suit the offset. RS2 brackets with 314mm rotors and 996 monoblocks are meant to be ok.

RS2 brackets, 323mm disks (EuroS8) and 993TT calipers are meant to be ok.

See the thread http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...0676#post40676 for S2 hub pricing.

There is meant to be no need to upgrade the rears on an S2 CQ20v as all the braking is done on the front.

Which Audi came with 314mm front disc rotors? What is the price difference between the 996 monoblocks vs. the 993 big reds?

I have a set of U.S. A8 front rotors (312mmx25mm) on my wife's A4. I was told that if I wanted to put them on my CQ, then I would need to purchase the special BIRA bracket, rather than use the RS2 bracket. Is this correct or is there a way I can still use them using parts from the Audi bin?

                            Thanks!

Can't say about that but the Euro A8 has 314 x 30 mm disks. 996 Carrera Monoblocks are cheaper than 993TT Big reds ( ususally).

Can't say about the A4 disk I'm afraid....
