  • Can I mill brake pads?

I have put RS4 calipers and A3 disks on the rear of my S2. When the pads are worn, there is no problem with fitting. But new pads and new disks together mean I need to remove 1.2 - 1.4 mm of thickness to get the calipers to fit.

    I have the following ideas.

1 - mill 0.7 mm off each pad

2 - Pair up one new and one old pad in each caliper

3 - mill 1.4 mm off the disk

    4. mill the jaws of the caliper 1.4 mm wider.

    Any comments or better ideas?

Don't know it off hand. Mark Halligan has the same I think. They are off the front of an A3 IIRC.

Edited: The guy who came up with this idea was Tommy Arnberg of 20V_Kruemmer fame. Of all the Audi guys I have seen, he is the one who most consistently thinks outside the envelope. If you go to the 20V_Kruemmer site and look in the archives, you will find the specs

Thanks for that. I also think it must be the easiest solution.
