Nice work Wolfie! So this is the same caliper as the URs4 / 6?
anyone here with a S2 Coupé and 312mm rs4 b5 rotors on the rear?

I would say yes, but hope Wolfgang can confirm 100% - sure makes sense for B3Q/S2Paul Nugent

I just remembered that the B4Q has different rear hubs to the B3Q... Therefore the RS4 hub solution may not work on S2 Avant/Sedan.
AFAIK - the S2 Avant/Sedan will have 82mm hub/bearing driveshaft arrangement but the RS4 rear hub expects a 75mm setup - all of which is available on other B4Q machines - seems like the larger engined ones got 82mm rear though - bloody complicated innit.
As such - I would say B6 rear disc upgrades are the best way forward on the B4Q - but know that you can use calipers from B5Q, B5-RS4 (or A6AR).Paul Nugent

@david: i´m sorry, i was misunderstood. OF COURSE i´m interested in avants and sedans, this is also why my webpage is called audis2.de and not audis2coupe.de...Can believe this attitude to Avant owners though - Quote - "The RS4 B5 has whatever for calipers, i don´t know?! and to be honest, i don´t care, cause this caliper is useless on the coupe"
This was only a silly joke. sorry.
Please let me know how i could be helpful and i´ll give my very best..Wolfgang, while I know you have a Coupe, but with your knowledge gained to date any further input for Avant owners would be greatly appreciated.
NOPE you can´t use the hubs from RS4, because of the drive-shaft size.
4 - B5 RS4 at 312x22 with discs, carriers, pads and calipers. Also needs B5Q rear hubs to correct disc offset.
@Error404
What is the same caliper as UrS4/S6? Girling 41/43 is in the cars i mentioned above. This caliper has nothing to do with the RS4 ones...
don´t know what to confirm...I would say yes, but hope Wolfgang can confirm 100% - sure makes sense for B3Q/S2
exactly, this is what i meant here:I just remembered that the B4Q has different rear hubs to the B3Q... Therefore the RS4 hub solution may not work on S2 Avant/Sedan.
--------------You can´t use the RS4/S4/A4 quattro B5 rear wheel hubs on the big B4Q, (S2, 2.8V6, etc) cause the driveshaft-splining (hopefully the right word ) is on the RS4 SMALLER than the S2/RS2 ones... sounds strange but it´s a fact...
Yes, this is what i meant with my first line: "You can´t use the RS4/S4/A4 quattro B5 rear wheel hubs on the big B4Q"AFAIK - the S2 Avant/Sedan will have 82mm hub/bearing driveshaft arrangement but the RS4 rear hub expects a 75mm setup - all of which is available on other B4Q machines - seems like the larger engined ones got 82mm rear though - bloody complicated innit.
the driveshaft splining in the S2/RS2/V6 2.8 Sedan/V6 2.6 Avant/V6 2.8Avant is bigger than in the RS4/S4/A4 B5 Quattro.
the smaller b4 quattros 2.6 V6 Sedan, NG Quattro, 2.0i Quattro, Competition have the same driveshaft splining with the RS4/S4/A4 B5 quattro. And luckily this is the same splining than the rs4 ones...

i think i´ll now go to my garage and check out if the rs4 step works on b4 quattro.. problem is that i´ve only got 4x108 b4q wheelbearing houses and s2 avant rear hubs solo..
but we´ll find out...
partnumbers are already posted, nice work! thanks...Comment

So was my comment a joke, "tongue in cheek" as they say. Somebody else might be able to translate the saying into German? Said but not really meant.

good evening guys,
as i said, i was in the workshop and had a look...
and to be honest, no good news for S2 avant owners...
but take a look at the pictures:
S2 Coupe rear hub vs. S2 Avant rear hub... exactly the same except the driveshaft splining, this is, as said before, in the avant bigger than in the s2 coupe.

S2 Avant rear hub vs. A4 B5 Quattro, S4 B5, RS4 B5 rear hub, i think ca. 9-10mm offset difference:

A4 B5 Quattro / S4 B5 / RS4 B5 rear wheel hub vs: S2 3B/ABY front wheel hub:

And as you can see the S2 front wheel hub is the hub for the mission, something, either brake calilper carrier or brakedisc-hat needs a little modification. If this has been done it would be the best way to solve this problem. AND the S2 front hub has the same drive-shaft-splining as the S2 Avant/Sedan on the rear.
And a foto with all hubs on it:

and another:

ok, more pictures to come:
S2 Avant rear wheel hub vs. 80 B4 Q 4x108 wheel hub, exactly the same except the 5 and 4 lugs, and the driveshaft-splining in my case. the 4x108 is from a b4 q 2.6 sedan. means small drive-shaft-splining.

RS4 / S4 B5 / A4 B5 Quattro rear wheel hub on the left vs. 80 B4Q 4x108 rear wheel hub:

with mounted RS4 B5 rear brake-disc and the "problem"... the caliper-carrier cannot be mounted with this setup: ( B4Q rear wheel hub, B4Q rear wheel bearing housind, RS4 B5 brake disc, and RS4 b5 caliper-carrier )

without caliper-carrier:

but, what is this? maybe a fitting wheel hub?

this should be worth a try...
best regards!

Fully understood on hub/driveshaft pain with S2 Avant/Sedan here. You could try a spacer between B4QS2 rear hub and that B5-RS4 disc - not ideal and dunno about clearance. Depends how desperate you are for 312x22 disc from RS4 - tis very expensive anyway... I still say that B6-S4 disc is better starting point - referring back to earlier post about using B5Q, B5-RS4 or B6Q rear calipers.
I dare someone with deep pockets to source the 321x22 option from armoured A8Q and see if that works on B3Q or B4Q... Cheap discs but $car€y carriers.Paul Nugent

Ahh but equally interesting idea to put FRONT B4Q-S2 hub into rear... not straight bolt on as some machining and/or spacers required.... Worthy of some checking as this gets round 82mm bearing problem - assuming driveshaft spline dimensions are the same ?Paul Nugent

Just noticed that WOlfgang says the front & rear splines are the same - so I agree with him here - should be possible to go as follows at rear of S2 Avant...
B3Q/B4Q FRONT hubs (83mm bearings) - 5x112
B5-RS4 discs (312x22)
B5-RS4 carriers with spacers to accommodate disc sitting further outboard
B5-RS4 pads
B5-RS4 alloy calipers (or B5-S4 steel)
Hydraulic hoses to suit B5-S4 or B5-RS4 calipers - banjo stylee on RS4
Nothing that cannot be sourced for about 900 quid from your local neighbourhood Audi dealer

we´re talking about S2 Front hubs on the rear axle on an S2 Avant/sedan, ok?Worthy of some checking as this gets round 82mm bearing problem - assuming driveshaft spline dimensions are the same ?
you can take the normal rear wheel bearing for s2 avant/s2 sedan. and yes, driveshaft spline dimension is the same...

One last thought... a possible wrinkle with the list described above for B4Q-S2 is that VERY long carrier bolts are required if there is a spacer introduced between the caliper carrier and leg/knuckle. The B4Q rear carrier bolts are the longest I know from Audi, but it would be easy enough to source something longer - in correct HT material - from a fastener specialist.
I used long B4Q rear carrier bolts when doing B3Q conversion with few mm of carrier spacer - shortened to fit - thats why I feel an even longer bolt will be needed on a B4Q-S2 with spacers.Paul Nugent
