    hi,

i´d like to say the 4 piston porsche ones...

BUT in germany there is something called TÜV... and there everything has to be fine, including handbrake. and exactly this is the problem, how do you proceed with your handbrake then?

there is absolutely no problem with the girling 41/43 caliper.....

    best regards...

This is easy to do, install a 4 piston caliper and a separate hand brake caliper i was going to do this until I looked in to the brake balance or imbalance and I was recommended to have most braking at the front as standard, so to install 4 pots at the rear was going to be even more expensive with 8 pads and 4 calipers plus extra machining costs for 2 calipers on 1 carrier (handbrake AP calipers £75 from breakers yard each, Ferrari or Aston) and then you would probably need a bias valve to replace the majority of braking to the front so big cost and most wasted unless you would have say 400mm with R8 8 pots on the front with regular braking from 200mph......

@ Wolfgang 225 TT calipers are the same make as the S4/8 and rs4, Lucas...... after looking further in to them they only have a smaller piston so no good for what I had intended. Say if some one had the smaller 314mm, 323mm or even 330mm at a push upgrade up front I think they would be good with the S4 2.7tt 256mm discs at the rear as being more plentiful and cheaper than the S4/8 or RS4 calipers. (obviously measuring would need to be confirmed for application compatibility).
Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!

          Good Post Quattro!

Also to take into account is that when you increase the area of the pistons in the calipers and the amount of them this will have a direct effect on the braking pressure produced by the master cylinder. You will ultimately loose braking pressure as your driving more surface area. So you may just end up with a spongey pedal or lower braking pressure.

I did an interesting discovery today. I happened to buy another set of brakes, this time Phaeton 6.0 W12. And hey... take a look at the handbrake assembly on these babies!

I will try them on the car tomorrow and see how they fit, I didn't even think so far as measure the CC on the carriers when I unpacked them. Oh well... Maybe I should just stick with a set and complete the conversion some day?

You can read more about the Phaetons here: The Bathmobile @ www.irry.com

Yep! I'm a ****ing moron. I have to blame the fact that I was under the influence of LSD, morphine, cocaine, alcohol and half awake when I unpacked them. The W12 calipers are to 99% identical to the RS4 b7s but with another carrier and another handbrake asembly. Will post an update with some pics once I unload the camera but just ignore my ramblings about the handbrake assembly, W12 calipers are a worse pick then RS4 b7 actually.

Mkay. The report of Phaeton rear calipers on S2 Coupé can be found here.

To sum it up. It's a no go on a coupé and the carriers is a no go on any S2 coupé due to the bigger CC where it bolts to the wheel hub assembly. The rear calipers on the Phaeton is 99% identical to the RS4 b7's, more info and pictures on the link above.

Sorry for my n00b ramblings yesterday. Anyone want to buy a set of rear calipers and discs for a VW Phaeton 3.0 W12?

                            996 Rear calipers

                            Hey Rocco,

You seem to have a great solution there. I have a few questions: -

                            1) How did you attach the 996 calipers - did you use a modified RS2 front adapter (the hub bolt holes are 92mm apart but the RS2 bolt holes are 94mm apart?

                            2) How did you attach the RS4 B5 rear caliper to the hub? I have an idea that you used the splash guard mounting holes but please tell, something like the attached

                            3) Did you use a standard S2 coupe handbrake cable?

                            Cheers,

                            John

                                @Rocco

The RS4 B5 discs are 312x22 not 300x22. The discs you´re using are completely different to the RS4 B5 ones. Check out my pictures.

                                What discs do you use?

Your brake pedal goes much wider now?

                                Handbrake completely gone now?

                                cheers
