I know from experience that some cars are a pain in the backside when trying to bleed them. I'm going to replace my n/s/r caliper. I know how to but are there any special moves (engine running/off etc?) Can I just use the down-open-shut-up etc etc method with my missus following instructions at either end?
URS4 rear caliper bleed. Easy?

When I replaced my UrS4 calipers, I left them gravity bleed (bleed screw open with a transparent hose to a jar) for some time. Then I used my MitiVac to suck some more fluid through, then more gravity bleeding. The problem with getting someone to "help" you, they can press the pedal too far and push the Master Cylinder (MC) piston (and sealing cup) past the previous wear point in the piston bore. This can damage the seal, leading to MC internal leakage, i.e. you have to pump the pedal to get the brakes to work.
Here is a post on rear brake R&R on a C4 UrS car (note the hot links inside to two caliper rebuilt procedures if you are feeling lucky and/or brave):

You need to follow ALL your posts. I gave you the link to the eBrake info in answer to your other brake post:

Jeez, you Canadians ey?
Host the Winter Olympics, do fairly well and there's no stopping you. I'll have you know that we won a medal in the Downhill Teatray and if there'd been a Shreddie Knitting event we'd have taken the gold in that also.
Seriously and genuinely, thanks for the typically "high horse elitist" answer Dave and the link to the qworld page. You fail to take into account that maybe I'd not been on here or had the luxury of time to review all my questions since you posted the answer.
I usually search AW and the amazing faq page on AW but a lot of times when I follow links on the faq page it tells me something along the lines of "page or topic not found??" Can't remember exactly what, so I tend to ask in here. A British forum which makes it better anyhow.Comment
