    ur RR rear caliper

    Hi chaps,

Sorry to intrude, but, other Audi forums just don't compare to this one!

Anyway, recently had issues of o/s rear brake caliper sticking on, so it's time to replace or repair.

Got some prices from euro car parts and GSF (GSF being the cheaper).

Is this the best option or is a seal change the way to go?

Is the S2 caliper the same as the 20v quattro? I think 447615424?

    Thanks

They can be done and are quite a fiddle.
The handbrake shaft is the usual culprit, I fit grease nipples to mine and they are never any trouble again!
Seals are not a sticking problem, replace if stripping.
Have a look on ebay.de I saw that you can fit the newer aluminium caliper from a TT or one of the newer generation. Would be a good upgrade.

The calipers on RR are the same as 200q 20v, V8 or UrS4/S6 (C4).
Seal kit part number is 447 698 671

RR caliper is for vented rear discs and S2 has solid, hence they will not swap over.

      Hope this helps.

        Thanks guys.

So, if a caliper can be obtained for approx £70+vat, maybe that's the way to go?

You mentioned the alu pistons, well, someone did suggest Stainless steel ones. All depends how far you want to go and how much you want to spend really, I suppose.

The car (like many urs) has only light use - something I'm trying to rectify!

        Cheers, Chris

          Not pistons, Ali calipers!
If you are going to spend that much do some looking in to the Ali ones they are a similar price. Better design...

Also consider fitting OE calipers as opposed to GSF or Euro copies.
Try main stealers (sometimes you can be surprised on price) or Pete at Quattro Corner. He is usually good on price.
            Hope this helps
