    Amurican Brake Porn...

    Hey Guys

Hap Maguire here from the mountains of Colorado. I've been a lister for a while but have never really posted very much. These are some pics of my 93 urS4 that I've owned since new. This is the 3rd set of brakes I've put on this car and I can report that the results are stunning both visually and from the driver's seat. The fronts are Cayenne 6 piston calipers with 2 piece 355x32 rotors with custom hats. The brackets are one-offs from Apikol but they do have the specs to make more. The rears are 993tt calipers with 2 piece 314x30 rotors with custom hats and brackets. The parking brake is actuated by a WRC style parking brake/master cylinder that is plumbed into the brake system. The car itself is even better. Enjoy the pics.

      Great upgrade you've done there.
Also liking the "m3" exhaust style

Did you check the total wight of the oem brake system vs the new brake system?
Can you put some in more info on that wrc style parking brake system (how it works).

Hey thanks. It does the primary job of pulling down the speed of the Big Beast quite well but it also looks very nice both stationary and rolling down da road.

The sound of the exhaust is pretty loud but oh so soulful. The big cams make it idle at about 1400 rpm and it still has a lope to it. Sounds like one of my younger years Big Block Chevys.

Weight savings was not the primary rationale for this upgrade. Had it been so I would have stayed with the front 993tt calipers and 322mm 2 piece rotors. Given their size, the 6 pots still weigh less than the G60s they replaced. I am a believer in balanced braking. I've had the rear brakes mounted for about 8 years and this is the 2nd generation of parking brake application. The first was a dedicated master cylinder that was mounted near the rear axle and activated by the stock parking brake handle and cables. This used hydraulic activation to set the rear brakes. The second is a much cleaner solution. We're using a K Sport Hydraulic Handbrake that can be found here:

Ksport hydraulic handbrake assemblies are made for drift and rally use. Browse the hydraulic handbrakes in the range and compare options.

It also uses hydraulic activation to set the rear calipers but its all contained at the parking brake handle assembly. Its plumbed into the line running to the rear brakes. Here's a picture in my car.

Thank you sir. Magnaflow they are but they're 3" inward and 3" twin outlet. With the 3.5" piping from the turbo back, its pretty loud. Good thing I have a great audio system and lousy hearing.

Those are Kosei K3s in 18x8.5 et 35 with 255/35-18s. They're hand polished as well. I also have a set of SSR Comps in 18x9 for the track.
