My Zimmermans work better than the discs i had before but I can't comment on whether the previous ones were OEM or not. I don't think the handbrake has a good rep anyway so i tend not to bother with it unless hill starting. Leave it in first gear or reverse when parked, shouldn't move.

Zimmerman can still be setup to work fine, especially with new handbrake pads, cables and liners. These made a massive improvement, even though the brake worked OK before. Given the cost difference of the discs worth a punt.
Personally, I've gone for OEM as they do not rust up and I like the pretty drill pattern. Inner handbrake surface also looked better finished than some aftermarket alternatives. I think zimmerman do now coat some of their discs to slow down the rust right?
used zimmerman bought from ultimot.de twice. Handbrake seemed to me excactly the same as with OEM, needing excactly the same amount of treatment over time of readjustment.
i now have new handbrake shoes and it works fine at the moment.
as for the discs themselves, i couldnt notice any difference in lifetime than oem. Rear ones were changed now due to heavy salt use here in the UK. i have cryoed them so ill see how much they last now
I have the undrilled zimms. no trouble with rust as they are painted with exhaust paint. You can get a sliver/grey that is a perfect match for the oem colour.
Good saving!

I also have Zimmerman drilled in the back and they're perfect quality/price for me
I painted the bells of the discs with hightemp 800° spraypaint.... i do fireplaces and stoves so I had on hand a perfect "barecastiron" paint that it's just perfect OEM look.
Three years and no rust so far...
