    Hydraulic Brake Assistance Replacememnt Options

As per title, not seen this discussed much. I think the hydraulic assist is a bit useless, the parts are now worn out at 16 years old and are a small fortune to replace new. Secondhand parts are still around (for now) but are not going to last for too long, assuming they're in better shape than the ones that would be removed.

    There are a few options:-

    Vacuum assist off a CQ

This would mean replacing the servo and mastercylinder (?) and there may be a clearance and heat issue with the servo on a RHD car as they are close to the downpipe.

    Pedal Box

A complete re-think of the Audi pedals, a replacement pedal box could be attached to the floor and give a more reliable accelerator, new clutch master cylinder and new bias brake master cylinder setup, the pedal would get heavier with no assistance but then it would also allow the removal of the ABS, another system that is only getting older!

    Any other ideas?

Any writeups or information on the above ideas, I'm interested to see how it all bolts together.

If your car has ABS your need to keep it for the MOT

A pedal box is fine but think about how your have it fabricated. The floor towards the fire wall is hollow, and you will need to remake the pull system to the throttle cable no doubt and also change the cable to the one with the correct fittings not to mention all the OEM loom there. Also making sure you can get in the correct position with the OEM seat and steering positions? Also adding a few braided fittings.

Unless your making a track monster i think this is abit of a no brainer for a road car.

I have a APracing set to put in when i build the cage but i am not looking forward to fitting them thats for sure.

Leccy PAS pump and vacuum servo is really the best and only option for an "easy" fix IMHO.
