    ABS Sensor Removal

I have a 1992 urs4 with a constantly lit abs light. Just failed its MOT so time to sort it. I've checked the fuse at the end of the dash (number 21) and the relay under the bonnet (number 4).

The car is fitted with UFO's which require the removal of a cowl to get to the abs sensor. I did this ok but am struggling to budge the sensor out of the upright. I tried some lube and a little leverage but it seems to be corroded in - the toothed ring (from what I can see also looks pretty corroded). I wanted to clarify that the abs sensors are simply pushed into place before I start losing my rag with it and get heavy handed. Does anyone have any tips on getting these things out?

    Thanks.

Yes they are push in but a ****** to get out after 15 years. I got mine out but crushed it in the process. Beware, new ones are not cheap!

I once took one out of an S2 hub that took and hour with a lump hammer and a chisel, I swear they had corroded so badly they had become one

        Anyway, good luck

often easier to take the strut / hub off and knock them out from the inside but as above, normally if you can't pull them out they are corroded to **** and with be destroyed getting them out

They're inherently T-shaped and the problem is usually stiction at the outer O-ring. I usually use a screwdriver as a very gentle easer, alternately top and bottom. I got three out of a 1984 ur-quattro yesterday with no problems at all.

Fettling the hole once they're out is a good idea.
