    Brake advice please

Advice needed from the brake experts please.
My car is slowly being put back together. Unfortunately, the rear callipers have seized so I was hoping to upgrade at the same time as replacing.
Second hand 996 callipers have almost doubled in price over the last year and I have to spend the few pennies I have wisely ensure the old girl is finished sooner rather than later. Having said that, due to some possible misinformation, I have recently purchased these:

They are good to fit a 300 x 32mm disc. Are these a suitable match for the 996 monoblocs I am running on the front.
    Many thanks
    Chris

Have no idea if the calipers you have bought are any good or not... Sorry.

All I know that for the rear upgrade you need S6 Calipers and machined down discs... I know S2_Spike has fitted them to his car and I think he has listed the parts on his build thread...

They look nice, probably have 36mm piston diameter, which sounds ok to me for typ85. However - how in the world you are going to mount them? I am not able to find any suitable mounting points on these.

      From what car they are?

These calipers come from a MG SV and are supposed to be 4 pots to match these:

        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

As can be seen, they are considerably different. THey cost my £150 which is about all I can afford with all the other work going on with the old girl to just try and get her back on the road.

        Cheers

PS. I can't seem to find the S"Spike thread

You are still running 4*108 right? I just 'upgraded' my 90q to new aluminum calipers from paul fernandes (custom autocraft), they work like a charm, and don't experience the (that's what they say) the seizing of the handbrake mechanism. And they're a bit lighter as well.

Those calipers aren't 4 pots Chris... They look pretty serious but unless you're going for an RS6 setup up front, 32mm rear discs will be a touch of overkill.

Could just upgrade the discs and pads on a stock or marginally uprated setup but for £150 you're on a tight budget for any upgrade.

Not sure if any of the S2 upgrades will work on typ85 hubs but as above, the 300mm coupe rear effort is about £500 for the parts...

Is it just me but they look like calipers for a hand brake as I can't see a hole for the brake pipe to connect to

I did notice these are not 4 pots - that was the point I was trying to make.
£150 would be for the calipers. I realise I would need new bells and carriers on top.

                      Sorry Chris, just checking

Just thinking along the 4x108 lines, what about some non-s Boxster rear calipers on some CQ 276mm front discs? Just leaves the handbrake to sort then but a simple handbrake caliper could be added on easily enough with a custom bracket. I'm sure an ebay search will find some calipers at a sensible price.

Not too worried about the handbrake side of things. If worse comes to worse, can have a hydraulic handbrake. Ideally would find some 996 rears at sensible price. No idea why they have doubled in proce on bay of thieves (or is that my answer?) in last year or so.
As I said though, am limited with funds as on top of £7k + legal expenses with my last outing to a tuner (more on this soon), I am now faced with rebuild costs due to damage done.
                        Cheers

Chris, check out these http://www.hispecbrake.co.uk/calipers/SVA%20Billet.htm . There are quite a few sets on there and new prices are the same as the inflated 996 secondhand prices nowadays. Look nice and neat and can be fitted with brackets to suit any sized 4x108 disc.

Chris, these calipers in the pics are purely handbrake calipers, nothing else, so you will need to use them along side another caliper on the rear.

You are right. Those are handbrake calipers. Here it is caliper on the car:

But how in they are properly fixed to the strut - still can't figure out . Second hole is on the disc side!. And yes, there are no obvious holes for connecting brake hose. Here is look from other side:
