But all the brackets i make for the S2/urq are helicoiled to m12x1.75 as the bolts are readily available to buy of the shelf

So what you are trying to re-invent is the brackets that Apikol already sells for mounting Porsche calipers and Audi rotors on a 200/5000 (Type 44) chassis (note that all their brackets are from high strength steel to eliminate the need to Heli-coil or Time-sert an aluminum bracket - a solution that BIRA did well and ECS seemed to fail at and 034 initially ignored before switching to steel):

              Apikol:
Discover Apikol’s top-tier performance parts and expert installs for Audi, VW, Porsche, and BMW. Upgrade with OEM parts and enjoy a 12-month warranty!

              BIRA (for historical reasons):
              http://www.bira.org/info_main.html - check out "designs"

              O34 ("now in steel":
              RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan
              94 UrS4 V8 6 spd manual avant

The reason I pointed to the 034 brackets was the "now in steel" part. They first made them in 100% aluminum alloy with no inserts for the threaded bits (they just threaded the aluminum). "We" (a few UrS owners with some understanding about these brackets) eventually convinced them that they were producing a part that would fail, perhaps with deathly consequences. So "now in steel".

BIRAs aluminum alloy brackets used a Time-sert for the threaded bits. Worked for me for 11 years with Boxster calipers until I took them off this summer in favour of RS2 brackets and Big Black (982GTS) calipers.

Dude your dimensions are all messed up, this is what they draw:

                        Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt
                        Indigo ABY coupé
                        Imola B6 S4 Avant

Take 7075 "aircraft grade" aluminum, even it still has a limited # of cycles. Like an airplane, the air-frame(made of aluminum) has an expected # of hrs before it can no longer be flown. It is the simple fact that aluminum is more susceptible to corrosion and fatigues quicker than steel. It is a great material but just not well suited for this application.[/QUOTE]

So what about Aluminium Brake Bells and Aluminium Brake Calipers, do they have a limited life??
