    URS6 Pedal box

    Hi all again!

A week back i booked my problematic S6 in with MRC for today to try and find why it is running poorly. The night before i went to fill it up with petrol (again!!)

Was just overtaking a car when i pressed the clutch to hear a familiar clunk and the pedal fell to the floor. This had happened a year before. The rod going into the master had snapped in two! The first time i put it down to age and the S6's heavy clutch, howevet the second time sent me looking a little more closely rather than rushing it in between customers cars

The cause seams to be that the braket the master bolts to has fractured allowing the master to move when the pedal is pressed!!

I now need to remove the pedal box to weld the thing back up, Is this much of a job folks???

Hello mate, I just don't know how much more bad luck i can have with this car!

I'm still going to book back in with MRC as soon as i can, but having changed every electrical part in the engine bay, i'm now looking sideways at the extremely poorly fitted toad alarm/imobiliser spliced (equally badly) into the cars loom!! Obviously they have tapped into something that stops the car starting, maybe a bad connection here!?!!?

The UrS6 pedal box is the same as was in my Audi 200 which did the same thing. Took the driver seat out, fireproof blankets down, lay upside down and welded in situ. Back on the road in around 40minutes. Common fault over age as they are only thin metal and the constant duress of a heavy old clutch makes them give way. replace your clutch and release bearing for new and you'll probably find you will have a lighter pedal too.

Thanks for that mate, I plan to do all the gearbox/clutch stuff but would like to put it off for 6 months or so as when i do it'lll be a big job since the dual mass is 'jingling' and 1st sounds straight cut!
