Don't laugh, I am about to replace the standard front brake discs and pads with NEW standard front discs and pads.
What is the best make and place to buy these now?
I haven't bought any for about 5 years.
Cheers,
Steve.

Prob. worth getting OE Audi pads and Brembo discs if you're keeping them on there, the Pagid TQs I had weren't really that great. If you want some more performance then Mintex CTech 1144 or Ferodo DS are a good step up.

I replaced the Front pads & discs on my passat with Brembo, Pagid from GSF. They work fine with no problems with 3k miles - AFAIK there the same fit as the s2 ?

I agree the GSF standard pads & discs is the cheapest route but they will fade if you push them.
Consider EBC yellowstuff pads with standard discs. I know some on here confuse them with redstuff and don't like them but they do give better performance and have the advantage of having no iron/steel in them unlike standard pads so are less likely to rust themselves to your discs if your car isn't driven that much.......also I do have a set for sale
but I do run EBC yellowstuff on my 996 Porsche caliper setup.
And yellowstuff makes your wheels easier to clean from the dust
For stock brakes i recommend Lockheed or Pagid. I prefer the Lockheed as they give a nice firm brake pedal feel. Pagid are a little more spongy and will fade when used in anger. What ever you do avoid the Textars as they spew out a huge amount of black dust. Only others i have used are the EBC green which were like cardboard, dont even think about those.

GSF now only call up "Brake Disc S2 Avant" I am sure the Coupe discs are the same size aren't they?
I also checked with a Brembo reseller and they do not sell an S2 COUPE disc anymore!
The question is do I spend £170 on OEM discs from Audi, £80 for no-name discs from GSF or £65 on no-name Discs from Brakes International ???
£170 seems a hell of a lot from Audi, but would I regret buying cheaper discs?

Steve.

Based on this statement on the Brakes International website, I think I am going to give them a go:

I have already done it! Brakes International, next day to my door £70.
If they are bad I can have a second set cheaper than the OEM ones...
I will let you know how I get on.
(Wish I could afford the 996 set up. )
